so this is the poem i wrote for my english class.
it's inspired by george ella lyons' 'where i'm from'.
umm, idk, i had a lot of fun writing it, its organized as different stages of my life. i guess it only really makes sense to me, though.
and i really hate the last line, so ignore that please. =]


i’m from early morning rises
and all day in the car
from best friends and boyfriends
with the same last names
from jealousy, pride, and a fear of failure

i’m from the marching band
and a marriage proposal
from dinosaurs and cloud-patterned walls
from bunk beds, tears, and autistic children

i’m from harry potter and unfair punishment
from snow, kickball and rainy day recess
from fear, laughter, and friendship

i’m from fuzzy key chains, “staying alive” and sleepovers
from spelling wizards and riding the short bus
from samurai jack, tortellini, and courage the cowardly dog

i’m from a tornado watch and “build me up, buttercup”
from the wrong trousers and the right books
from the bat cave, the library, and the sneetches

i’m from my chemical romance
and the inevitable heartbreak
from short hair vs. long hair
and holidays at china palace

i’m from questions, from answers
from green face paint and the abc’s
i’m from birthday cakes and rain
from swing sets and the strong bond between friends
